Ryker's First Haircut

It was finally time for Ryker to get his first haircut.  It was time awhile ago, but I just couldn't bring myself to cut off that sweet, baby, pure white hair of his.  But it was looking ratty, and starting to look a bit like a mullet, which is never good, so I decided it was time.

We took both boys to cookie cutters.  Brody is a pro now, and he told us he wanted to go first to show Ryker how to be brave.  What a sweet boy he is.  Ryker was very excited to be sitting in a car, and he actually did really great.  I don't think he loved it or anything, but there were no tears or screaming involved, so I would say we had great success.  I think it tickled him and he was trying to look behind him to see what the girl was doing.  He is so stinking cute I can't handle it!  I still left it longer than I ever do Brody's hair...I want to see if we can get a cute long hair style out of his cute blonde hair...it's actually more white than blonde...I love it!

I'm so proud of Ryker and how well he did...I'm just sad that he's old enough to be getting haircuts and doing big boy things.  I don't want him to get any bigger!  I love you to pieces, Ryker!

Brody showing Ryker how to be brave.  He likes that he can play video games while he's getting his haircut.

Ryker before...

Ryker before... (It's hard to tell because his hair is translucent basically, but there's lots of wispy hairs by his ears.)

Having fun, waiting for his turn.

Loved the car!

See the mullet in the making?  Not good...

Doing so well!!

It was so long on top!

Oh my goodness...I want to smoosh him and kiss him all over!  Love this boy!

Seattle Trip 2012

Back in July, Jayson and I took a trip to Seattle.  We hadn't been on vacation by ourselves since before Brody was born.  We had gone to Mexico in 2007...that was the last time.  It was definitely overdue, but I had a really hard time agreeing to it knowing I would be leaving my boys at home.  After some thought, I agreed and knew that my mom and sisters would take good care of them...plus, it was pretty much a free trip, thanks to my dad!  He travels to Seattle every week for work, so he earns lots of sky miles.  Our tickets were free and so was our room.  He even paid for our meals using his per diem.  We couldn't be more grateful!  Thanks, Dad!  We really appreciate it and we had such a great time!

We also got to travel there with him and spend some time with him there.  We borrowed his friends car and my dad drove us to the couple of places we lived when I was little.  It's crazy...I lived in Washington between the age of 18 months to almost 4 and I remember so much of it.  If Jayson and I ever chose to move out of state, it would definitely be to somewhere in Washington.  It is so beautiful there!  I love how green it is, and I could definitely get used to the weather.  Fall all year round...my dream!

The time that Jayson and I had to ourselves we went to Pikes Place and wandered the city.  Another day we did the underground city tour.  It was really relaxing and we really did have a great time.  It was weird not having to worry about taking care of kids.  It was nice having a break, but by the end I was ready to see my little munchkins and hug and kiss them.  I don't think they missed us much.  They had so much fun with my mom and sisters.  They of course got spoiled.  They ate breakfast outside on the picnic table, played outside in the little pool my mom got them, my mom made Brody a batman pillowcase and a batman utility belt...AND a superhero storybook.  Thanks, Mom and Hannah and Maquel for taking such good care of them and creating great memories for them to have!

Now I'm anxious to plan another trip...maybe the next one can be Hawaii or somewhere tropical...

Crossing the bridge over the Puget Sound on our way to Bremerton.

This was the apartment we lived in when we first moved to Bremerton, Washington.  As we drove in, I recognized it right away.

Ours was #33.

After Bremerton, we drove to Poulsbo.  It was a really cute little city that reminded me of the places I went to in The Netherlands.

Jayson and I on the Poulsbo Marina.

Me and my daddy.

On our way back to Seattle we drove our car onto the ferry and rode it back.

View of the city from the ferry.

My dad's friend that he works with in Seattle let us borrow his car to drive around.  It was pretty awesome... it was loud, rattly and bumpy.  It made for some fun times.  The best part was that it was purple.

The guys thinking they're pretty rad in the ragtop.

Pike's Place Public Market...

The famous fish market where they throw around the fish.

The gum wall...

The most beautiful fruit...

Mouth-watering veggies...

We visited the very first Starbucks...

Underground City tour...

Half of this building is underground..part of it was on the tour.

Skylights to the underground...

What they look like from underground...it was really neat to see.

After we lived in Bremerton, we moved to Kent.  This was our apartment.

I remember playing by the pond and feeding ducks.

The pool I vividly remember almost drowning in...
