My little Ryker D. is 10 months old! I just can't believe it! It's so hard to believe he is almost a year old! I wish I could freeze time for a little while and keep him at this age. I'm remembering now why I love this age...I want him to stay 10 months forever! He is so much fun!
He is starting to interact and respond to certain things a lot more and his personality is really starting to come through now. He loves to be chased and he loves it when I crawl around with him. He loves it even more when Brody joins in. If I say, "I'm gonna get you!" and start crawling fast towards him he giggles and squeals and starts crawling away. After a few feet he'll sit up and put his hand in his mouth and continue to squeal and giggle until I "get him," and tickle him. It is something I hope I never forget...his little face when he lights up with excitement. He's still at the age where he loves Brody crawling around with him, but he's not so excited when Brody tries to tickle him. Brody tries so hard to be soft, but Brody is at the age where he wants to wrestle...so it's a little hard to control that urge. Haha. I'm sure Ryker will want to wrestle with his big brother soon enough. Right now he just gets mad, which is rare for Ryker.
It's really funny to see him get mad. He clenches his fists and straightens his arms and legs and holds his breath until he gets red and then lets out a little grunt. It makes me laugh when he does this. He doesn't get mad or frustrated often which is really nice. He is such an easy-going baby and is so smiley and happy all of the time. I know I say that all the time, but it's true! He's still pretty attached to me and doesn't like to be held by other people for long periods of time, but will still smile and wave at anyone. He's friendly in that way.
Lately he's been wanting his blanket with him. I don't think he's "attached" to it quite yet, but I know he will be. Even Brody, who is so attached to his blankie, didn't start wanting it all of the time until he was around 15 months old. It is so cute to see Ryker with his blanket. He seems so little to want to crawl over to the couch, pull himself up, grab his blankie off of the couch, then sit back down again and then bury his cute little face in it and then lay down on the ground and cuddle with it. It is so precious to watch. He especially likes to do this when he's tired. It's so nice to have a baby that likes to sleep. He hasn't been very consistent sleeping through the night the past few weeks, but part of that has to do with the fact that we have all been sick pretty much the whole month of January and I'm pretty sure his top teeth are coming in. But on a good day, he'll sleep from 8:30pm-6:30am, and his morning naps are usually great! Sometimes 2 1/2-3 hrs! His afternoon naps are usually only an hour, but still...he's a great sleeper!
Some new things Ryker has been doing are: putting objects in any container he can find, taking tiny steps while holding onto things like the couch, he'll "dance", he signs, "all done" and "milk", and he can drink from a straw like a pro now. My favorite new development is his dancing. He loves music and he loves it when we play in the basement and turn music on the piano. He rocks back and forth and even sometimes "screams" along to the music. Brody loves dancing with Ryker and will hold him and bounce up and down with him. It is so cute!
Some new favorite foods of his this month are: strawberries, mandarin oranges, and cinnamon toast. He loves to snack on baby fish crackers and ritz crackers. He also loves to drink water. Some other things Ryker loves are: Dexter, Brody, his daddy, chewing on chapstick, and attempting to eat Dexter's food. It usually ends up on the counter so it's not a temptation to him. He loves Dexter so much! He'll find Dex's toy and crawl over to him to give it to him. It is so sweet! And Dex is really nice and soft with him. I love that my boys have Dexter!
I love my little Ryker! (One of his nicknames is Ryker D.). He is so sweet and brings a great spirit into our home. I can already tell he'll be a peacemaker for our family and make us all happy! We love you, Ryker!
