Thanksgiving 2011
We had such a great Thanksgiving this year. It was our year to spend it with Jayson's family and they had some really fun stuff planned! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love the food and all the time spent with family. Here are the highlights from our special day spent with our Harris family:
Ryker had his first taste of mashed potatoes and gravy...he loved them!
Brody played with Grandpa in the backyard.
Grandma planned a craft for all the grandkids. They colored turkeys and wrote things that they were thankful for on the feathers...then they glued them on. Brody loved it! He wrote that he was thankful for his family, blanket, new house, toys, Jesus, and the pilgrims.
Brody loved sitting at the "kids" table for dinner. Grandma had fun animal plates for them.
Brody's fancy Thanksgiving dinner was "Grandma Noodles." i.e. Ramen noodles. My little vegetarian...haha.
Jayson got some cuddle time with Ryker. Our little cuddlebug...so cute!
And we had a great time playing some "Minute to Win It" games. Brian won the whole thing and got an American Express gift card. I made it to fourth place which I was pretty proud of myself for...and Jayson made it to the end with Brian. This is them shaking ping-pong balls out of tissue boxes. It was a blast! We had a great Thanksgiving. And as always...I ate way too much!

7 Months Old
My sweet little Ryker is 7 months old! Time is going by so fast! It seems like yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital. I wish I could freeze time right now. He is at such a fun age..why do they have to grow up so fast...why do they have to grow up at all?
Something that I'm loving about his age right now is how vocal he is becoming. He just jabbers all day long and it is the cutest thing ever! He'll jibber-jabber to me with his gummy, little smiley mouth and it melts my heart and I turn to mush. I would do anything for this sweet little baby. He's doing the "Popeye" face that Brody used to do when he would get tired. I love it! But I'll just start talking to him and he'll talk back and then I can't help but giggle and smile at him because it's so gosh darn cute. He'll then return the biggest toothless smile...his gums are completely visible and touch together...haha, it's hilarious and so precious.
Not only does he "talk" up a storm, but he is also loving to scream. He sometimes just does a normal little baby scream, but other times it is so high-pitched that even Brody will cover his ears. He always decides to do this during sacrament meeting at church. No one can get mad at a 7 month old for doing that though, right? He has no idea, and I think he likes the echo it makes when it's dead silent. Haha. Sometimes I wish babies/toddlers made the cute baby noises for a longer period of time before they really learn how to talk. It is much more pleasant then hearing, "stop talking to me like that!" or "I'm going to my room, cause I'm mad!" or "I hate that." There are other little boys in our house saying things like that instead of sweet gurgling noises. Haha. Brody makes me laugh.
Ryker is wanting to crawl so bad. He is so solid at sitting up now and can get onto his belly from the sitting position. He's also pushing himself up really well. He's just not getting putting his knees up under himself yet..but he's pretty close. Since he is such a curious little fellow, I'm going to have to watch him like a hawk once he can crawl. This little boy puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. I'm just not used to it...Brody didn't put anything in his mouth, even at this age. Ryker's two little bottom teeth are also trying to pop through. His little gums are really red and swollen. I wish it didn't take so long for baby teeth to come in...it's torture! Hopefully soon...
My little guy has been trying lots of new foods and so far there isn't much this kid won't eat. He loves food! He's already getting really good at picking up little bits of food too, like the gerber puffs. He's getting the pincer grasp already! What a smart little man I have! He is still such a mama's boy and I can't complain about that. It does make it hard to get anything done, but I'm holding onto this time and cherishing it while I can. Nothing makes me happier than when he reaches for me with outstretched arms and an open mouth ready to plant a big slobbery kiss right on my mouth or cheek. It's the best!
Ryker has a smile that melts my heart and brightens my day and a sweet little laugh that I can't get enough of. I love my baby, Ryker!
